Our Story

Beanstruk’s humble beginnings started 11 years ago out of a small garage in Umhlanga with Laura and Ric Hansen.

They began their new adventure into coffee after sailing around the world exploring coffee plantations and in search of a more rewarding form of work and indeed what is better than roasting coffee, meeting amazing people and serving by far the best coffee on the North Coast….

Then 7 years ago moving to  the Litchi Orchard, initially only on wholesale production capacity,

Roasting and supplying to business complexes ….

On visiting the North cost on one our trips to Kwazulu Natal we came across this magical historical spot and fell in love, After much persuasion, I was able to convince Laura to sell the business to us, and so began our ever rewarding coffee adventure..

With my husband a true bottomless coffee pot and me a bit of a coffee snob, We had found our perfect profession and together we have taken the business to greater heights,

Now open to the public Monday to Saturday, We not only supply business but cater for walk in and sit down trade.

We still only roast on demand to ensure you the client receive the freshest, highest grade coffee each and every time, for extra efficiency and convenience we deliver to your doorstep personally or via courier company if required … I am so proud that we now have as part of our team a full-time Barista who has a true passion for coffee and great people skill. My trusty and loyal in-house assistant is available at all time to offer advise on coffee selection, grinding and preparation.

We are also available to create signature blends for your company, supplying from here to Cape Town, Richards Bay, Gauteng, the berg and surrounds with amazing coffee..

This hidden gem, The oldest and longest standing roastery on the North coast is indeed worth a visit.

We at Beanstruk like to share our knowledge and encourage a passion for coffee

 

What do we offer is, a bit of coffee education, actually a whole lot of education.

Coffee tasting of up to 6 different varieties, a muffin each and a discount off your fist 1kg bag of beans.

All this for only R85 per person, bookings must be made at least two days in advance.
